I tried to stay awake but missed it

I've got it on now, what a fantastic operation. Just been listening to one of the miners - incredible.

Yes - I was watching online last night - and switched off just before things got really interesting.
One of the first things my OH said this morning 'they've got four out' - actually I think it was five by that time.
Fantastic to have some good news - even though there is still a way to go.

The whole rescue operation has been an amazing story. As I write this post, 5 of the 33 miners have been rescued. Let's all hope the other 28 are rescued as smoothly.

I've got the live feed on (at work, oops). The capsule has just arrived for the sixth man.
maggiemay, the first thing I said to my mom this morning was that they'd got three out.

Amazing rescue. The first few have been relatively fit, and able to cope mentally in case there were any teething problems. Now they are starting to rescue the ones who are not so well to be rescued. I hope they do as well too.
The rescue time is now down to 45 minutes each so it is all going very smoothly.

I was listening to the radio this morning (4 out at that point) - I want to watch some footage and see the miner who brought up the rocks for everybody - I think he's the one that's criticised the condition of mining in the past, or am I confusing two different people?
It's going to get more nerve-wracking as it goes on, I think, just hoping and praying that nothing goes amiss before they're all out safely.

I never watch the television in the morning, but the first thing I did this morning was switch on BBC 24 news so I could watch them being rescued. I felt really sorry for the 19yr old - the one who hadn't coped very well down in the mine - he looked so traumatised. Six out last time I watched. Hope they all get out okay

I think they said the guy with the rocks was the second one to be rescued - Mario Sepulveda
9th man is on his way out now. He's apparently the oldest miner (63) and is being fitted with an oxygen mask due to respiratory problems.

http://www.examiner.com/international-head...ays-undergroundHrm... I must admit that I wonder whether in the face of certain death, some of them did things that they now regret (also whether there are any mysteriously "missing" people who ended up as lunch!)...

Brilliant rescue, I was nearly late for work just watching one of them coming up, number 2 or 3 I think.
But if you think you've had a tough day, one of the Chillian miners just realised that he'd forgotten to clock in...

Did I miss the voting bit?
And, why aren't Ant and Dec there to interview them when they come out?

They suspended all normal programming here in Costa Rica to cover the rescue. Our reporters aren't doing any better than yours at filling in the time...
The muck that's usually on is much worse, though.
At least it's an inspiring event, even if accomapnied by drivel.
