tudornick@hotmail.comHi there! I am currently on a Vincent Bach bog standard Bb trumpet, with a 7c mouthpiece. I am looking to upgrade mouthpieces but I'm not sure which to go for - does anyone have any advice on really good classical mouthpieces?
Many thanks
Choddy

When I play trumpet (which isn't often) I usually play my brother's Bach Strad (but I'm really not a good trumpeter so he doesn't let me play it much!!)
I play a Besson student compensating double horn if anyone's interested lol.

Getzen Custom 3001
It's really luvleee!
Was intending to go for a Bach Strad but fell in love with the Getzen at first play.
I'm told that for orchestral playing that you really need a Strad but this Getzen seems
to me to be pretty versatile, nice valves, easy blowing etc.

hi i play the bach stradivarious - i used to play cornet but when i decided to buy a trumpet i decided to go for atop of the range trumpet and make it last for ages - rather than buying a middile standard trumpet and then in a few years need to buy a better one

all the half decent trumpet's I know play Bach's or Yammies. but then again its not all about what you play, but about how well you play. a pro can get a fab sound out of any old trumpet, its just that a really good trumpet makes it a bit easier.

Yamaha 1335 is ok for a beginner. Will strain the vocal chord if he is a singer

Where is the other person who "voted" for Getzen in the poll?
Don't get me wrong, Strads are excellent, but it's a shame that there
aren't more Getzen retailers out there, because it really is a cracking instrument, easy blowing, beautiful sound. Suitable for both jazzers and classical players in my opinion. Anyone else love their Getzen?!!

My friend has a Getzen Signature

and I've played it and it makes me wish I did lol. I play a Bach Omega- not quite rich enough for a Strad, but I like my trumpet anyway.

I have a Yamaha trumpet which I play sometimes, but my favourite instrument is a Besson 1000 cornet. Do they not make trumpets?

In the last few months I seem to have settled into playing more on my Callet Soloist trumpet. I also switched my mouthpiece to a GR64MS (GR Technologies) which I am very impressed with.
When I play cornet it's a Smith-Watkins. If only I had this when I was a kid maybe I wouldn't have given up for 20-odd (wilderness) years.
One day I'd like to try out a Flip Oakes Wild Thing.
In the end, though, I'm sure it's 95% ability 5% equipment.
Cheers,
Mark.
