Hello forum! wave.gif

I am very pleased to announce that taxidriver is hosting another house party (near Tunbridge Wells, Kent), with a more winter/Christmas sort of vibe (so soup/stew/bread etc. rather than barbecues!) on Sunday 12th December, from about 11-11:30ish to about 5-5:30ish!

As last time, it'll be a chance to talk, socialise, play music together in whatever combinations you want to and generally have fun.

The nature of this event means the numbers have to be restricted to around 16-20 people, and also as last time, just bring food/drink as payment.

Drop me a PM, text or email if you want to come, with instruments you're bringing, and also if you want accompanying, what piece you want to play (I don't need to know non-accompanied pieces), and taxidriver and I hope to see you there! party1.gif

Attendees (bold=confirmed) : taxidriver, barry-clari, katyjay, andante_in_c, Alto, smd, controller76, TSax, DaisyChain, lois, PianoNotes, PianissiMole, Solari, sbhoa, corenfa
TSax
I'd love to come again - the summer one was so much fun.

I'll bring tenor and alto saxes. I might bring CD accompaniments and see if that works, otherwise I'll manage unaccompanied.
katyjay
Glad it's a date I can make this time biggrin.gif

Looking forward to it (will bring a voice, maybe some other instruments...)
sbhoa
Don't know yet but will ask again if I can be free that weekend and if so will check train tickets.
I'm certainly owed a favour but not sure I'll get this one.

I can be released from duty. If I can sort out the practicalities (accomodation and affordable travel) I'll be there. clarinet.gif biggrin.gif party1.gif Please put my name on the list in case I manage to sort things out. Will confirm soon.
smd
I'd like to come along too please, I'm looking forward too it.

I'll play unaccompanied, unless anyone fancies doing a fairly simple duet with a Clarinet?
(Simple as it's just after my exam and from experience I know it always seem hard to pay new turnes in those first few weeks)
scotliz
So sorry...I won't be able to come this time. I am sure a great time will be had by all.
controller76

Oooh, can strangers come, i.e. me. I know DaisyChain, sbhoa and Barry-Clari, who can vouch that I am not a hooligan. By the time we have had baroque day, I will also have met KatyJay and Andante in C. I'll have to learn another piece of music to play on the piano though.
Solari
Count me in!
PianissiMole
I'd like to come too, please! smile.gif

I only need to know the piece(s) if you need accompanying, if that's the case, by about mid-November, if you can, thanks! smile.gif

Wondering if Solari or Moley want to have a go at the Beethoven?
I have another short, seasonal piece but will do some work on the Beethoven if one of you fancies playing it.

I think a few seasonal things will go down very well : I *think* this is the first ever event we've had in December?...

Just found the score for a trio arrangement I did of Mistletoe and Wine a couple of years age.
Would work for any combination of woodwinds so if there are 3 people who would like to give it a go (or 2 plus me or we could even have 2 on a part....) let me know and I'll make sure I have parts in Bb and C as necessary. Not difficult but parts and/or score could be sent if wanted.
My first time (and so far only) of doing something like this so don't expect anything wonderful.

Yes, I'm happy to "have a go" (as you so delicately put it) at the Beethoven ! tongue.gif

Now is the time to start thinking about whether you'd like to be accompanied in your performances at the house party. I'm going to set a cut off point of the close of play on Monday 15th November for me to receive details of what you're going to play : so I can allocate you an accompanist. After this date, I will allocate you an accompanist, and it will be up to you to liaise with him/her about getting parts to them.

If you're doing purely piano (or other) solos, or you're getting together with other musicians, I don't need to know what you're playing 'til we all turn up at taxidriver's on the day yay.gif

Thanks everyone! smile.gif

I was hoping to bring along accompaniment on CD (or iPod if it's easier) - will that work?

Yep, that's fine TSax smile.gif
barry-clari
During the next few days, those of you who requested accompanists will receive emails/PMs detailing the name of your accompanist. It's then up to you to liaise with your accompanist as regards getting the music to them smile.gif
barry-clari
Sadly, Tom Piano can't make it now sad.gif which leaves us very short of accompanists : so if anyone else fancies having a go at accompanying, I'd be very grateful...
sbhoa
Can bring carol book in case people want a bit of a carol singing session.

Hi Barry - if you have any easier accompaniments I'll have a go (and I mean EASIER!!) but if I could have the music as soon as that would be great.

I'll drop you my accompaniment for my clari piece over tomorrow. Very easy, even I can play it but unfortunately I can't accompany myself tongue.gif

This sounds such a lot of fun... Wish I could be there!
I shall be thinking of you folk as I get stiffer and stiffer on three looooooong flights to New Zealand...

We will have fun but think of us in the freezing cold while you are basking in the sun. Perhaps you ought to host the party over there.

Flying to Australia for me is just like this:

1) Drink Champagne
2) Pass out
3) Wake up
3) Go to Step 1

I thought the 12th was a Saturday and therefore that it clashed with something else. I can make this and would be happy to accompany (I don't have to play anything else, I don't want to take up the time that someone else already has) BUT I can't stay late as I will have to get back for work the next day, so if this is an evening event I guess I will not be able to make it.

(Apologies, I did try to look up details but I could not find any details of times. )

Edit: Obviously if you are sorted already, please ignore this, I don't want to disrupt any existing arrangements and I feel kind of cheeky replying this late..
katyjay
Looking back at the previous houseparty, I think the timings were 11.30ish to 5ish, so not an evening event.
PianoNotes
I also have the same timings as katyjay in my head.
