Hey y'all smile.gif

I'm saving over the next few months to buy a new piano. It needs to be a digital unfortunately - I would love an acoustic upright. Or even a full concert grand but hey-ho smile.gif

I saw this one http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/Conten...ml?CNTID=545649 and wondered if anyone had any thoughts? There are a few piano places around here and I am gonna try a load out before buying obviously. Just wondered if anyone had come across this and had any opinions on it?

Are they still selling those? I thought the 2xx models were replaced by 3xx equivalents? Or is this a new range?

I am fairly certain that the 2 series is still the current model in the digital grands.

My friend had one for a short period of time (his wife made him get rid of it as it took up too much space in their flat!!) laugh.gif I played it and all I can say is huminahuminahumina wub.gif wub.gif

Enjoy biggrin.gif

Really? Thats so amazing, I hope I can find a showroom somewhere to try it out! But if not you can return it within 30 days. I admit space isn't amazing in my flat, but there is definitely enough space to fit it - probably in the bedroom. Just need to get rid of the bedside table, exercise bike, stepper machine and the hamster blink.gif I am hoping to have it by April/May next year biggrin.gif

Does it need to be in a grand style cabinet?

I think such machines, with their higher prices, have a longer production lifetime due to the lower demand, and I believe the 265 is essentially 4 years old, in the interim there appear to have been improvements in the quality of samples and in the keyboards.

Its probably worth looking at Kawai's CA63/93 or Roland's HPi7F

I have been playing on a Clavinova a lot recently. It is a much better practice instrument than an out f tune or badly regulated upright acoustic.

Oh dear I am starting to waver. I had planned to spend up to 3 grand but now I'm thinking I could half that and spend the other half on a better violin...

Its better to waver before spending the money, than after.

Are you somewhere where you can go and try out lots of different instruments? If so, do so, and (as in my previous post) unless you have some good reason for needing it in a grand style cabinet consider the other options.

I think, in the price range of about ?1-5,000 Kawai and Roland may have the better options.
