Ok so I have been learning grade 5 pieces winter. Thats fine and challenging, ~ I chose the ABRSM keyboard anthology series.

Well on Friday I bought grade 6 exam pieces. Two of the pieces I found are in the grade 5 anthology.
I am wondering whether I should even take g5 now or go straight to g6.

I have mixed feelings, being grade 6 sounds fine. Realising those pieces are in grade 5 I feel like I would be cheating myself.

Any fans of the anthology series ?

.. I got so 2 more topics to post, all totally different elements sleep.gif

Pieces quite regularly turn up in different grades in anthologies and exam syllabuses. It's worth remembering that the assessment criteria will be slightly different for each grade, and a higher standard or performance will be expected for grade 6. Don't get too hung up on what 'standard' a piece is - if you are enjoying learning and playing something, does it really matter what book you found it in?

Pieces don't have grades.

Pianists do.

I agree. The number of times I tell pupils to remember it is a piece of music first and selected for inclusion on a syllabus second.
