I recieved a distinction on G6 biggrin.gif ,bot I dont know what I got on theory. What if I flunked Theory? ohmy.gif I felt pretty good about it at the time, but it can surprise you, I know. They wont recall my G6 if i flunked or will they??!? unsure.gif i am so scared!!!

I *thought* that you couldn't take grade 6 if you hadn't passed grade 5 theory? was it the AB exam? I don't see how they'd've let you take the grade 6 unless they knew you had passed... it would stink to take back your distinction... I really don't think they would. I hope you find out soon. it takes 6 weeks or so for theory results I think.

somehow nobody stopped to notice if I had got my results back--my teacher is confident i at least passed theory so she went ahead and had me take G6,not knowing theory results would be delayed. sad.gif

When did you take Grade 5 theory?
Emma C
But you'd done Grade 7 harp without the theory?

It could have been done under a different board, guildhall and trinity don't require grade 5 theory.

I thought you couldn't take Grade 8 practical if you hadn't taken Grade 5 theory

You can't take grade 6, 7 or 8 practical ABRSM grades without grade 5 theory.

in october. I took G6 in November under ABRSM. I have not sat my exams for 7 yet,but I know the pieces.

So hopefully the results should be out any day then?

Sounds a bit strange.. As I understand it you can't take grade 5 theory and a higher grade practical in the same exam session but need to have previously taken the theory.

They don't seem to care too much. I took gr 6 and 7 piano (distinction and merit) and took gr 5 theory only after gr 7. But they just didn't give my certificate until I passed the theory. biggrin.gif

mmm, that sounds strange!!! blink.gif I could have done my grade 6 flute in autumn at the same time as theory then, too! how annoying; now I have to wait till march! mad.gif

it does at least mean it looks unlikely that they would take away your G6 result if you hadn't passed, though - you would just have to wait for your certificate. I had always understood that you had to do G5 theory and have passed at least one exam session before you took G6+ practicals, but it seems there are ways and means...
