Hi

I had my grade 5 exam today and once again so nervous. I had my banana before i went in but it was so cold and i couldn't keep my hands warm.

The scales were good, arpeggios were good but i slipped on a contrary motion scale and the chromatic in contrary motion because is was shaking so much but i kept going.

The first piece had a tiny slip at the beginning but nothing major and finished really well.

The second piece was pretty good and the final piece was started OK but finished the best i have played it.

The sight reading was accurate and in time but was slightly slow.

The aural was mixed.

The singing back was OK till half way through but i forgot the end bit but carried on singing to what i thought it was.

The singing from the sheet was good but did get one note wrong as the examiner played one back.

The describing a piece went well, but not sure whether i got the time right at the end.

What do people think?

Your exam sounds like my grade 4 piano exam that I done recently , i got a distinction so you hopefully got one too ! .. good luck anyways , im sure you done well

Just got my result and got a merit. 122/150 so i very happy. On to grade 6 now.

I just had a look at the breakdown to see what i got on pieces and i got 25 on the first two pieces and 28 on the third.

Thanks - yes, online. Not me - two pupils. I guess I haven't checked today - but I didn't expect any to come out on a Saturday. Maybe it would be worth a look!
