I would love to re-start playing violin. I'm 23 and I did my grade 7 in 2005. I've kind of been going to lessons on and off since then, but I wasn't very good at practicing in between lessons. Now I live in a different city and there are more music schools and violin teachers here.
Intially I was hoping to work towards doing my grade 8, but I think that that goal might be a bit too much for me to start with, so I was thinking about doing an advanced ensemble (violin and piano) exam instead. It would feel more like a recital than an exam and maybe I could perform in public too.
Has anyone done the violin and piano advanced ensemble exam or any of the ensemble exams? How were they?
The idea of the ensemble exam appeals to me because I wouldn't have to prepare scales/sight reading/ aural tests. And perhaps after the ensemble I could go on to do grade 8.
