My son is hoping to acquire a 'flight case' - ie. a hard type of case for a ?7 octave digital piano (88 notes). Apart from Ebay, can anyone suggest where he might find a second hand one? They are quite expensive when new.

Thanks.
Helen
Crikey... a piano case? huh.gif Or a keyboard case?
Rosemary
Well it's like a very large keyboard, but with full size weighted piano keys etc. It's really heavy, as you can imagine! He plays in a band and needs the case for travelling. He also plays bass guitar and has a hard case for that - when I bought it from our local music shop it wouldn't fit in the boot of the car.......I had to stand it upright by the back seat! What with amps and all the other equipment as well....it's a lot to transport!

Ahh yes, I now know what sort of piano you mean, we had one at school... But for a moment there, I had visions of someone packing an upright or a grand woohoo into a case.
Maybe you could speak to a specialist piano shop? Ladbrooks pianos in Birmingham might be able to help you? Or, do a search on google or something for piano shops where you live? Would Dawsons in Chester be any good? When I brought my flute from there I remember seeing several grand pianos in the window.. they might at least be able to recommend someone?

I don't think ebay would have one on there, well, I've never come across a piano case on my travels of ebay... blink.gif

If not, would it be possible to have one custom-made? ph34r.gif

Well tomorrow I'll phone Sound Control in Birmingham for him (as he's at work!) because that's where he bought it. Maybe they can advise. Out of interest, where is Ladbrooks in Birmingham?

It's the betting shop on the corner just past the Bullring. You may find some hard cases in there but they'd expect money for carrying pianos around.

Ok, now that I'm actually awake properly, I have looked in the Birmingham yellow pages for Ladbrookes.

Ladbrooke Pianos - 32 Bristol Street 0121 622 4343 or Website.

This place also mentions digital pianos: Vale Pianos Worcestershire 01386 860 419 or website

And some random other ones also mentioned:
Streetly Piano Services 0121 353 5619 Walsall
Broughton Piano Services 01562 731 113
Piano Smith Dorridge 01564 777 421
The Piano Studio, Yardley, 0121 707 6579 or website
Josef's Pianos 01536 710 529, North hants, website

Hope this helps...

Thanks Helen, I'll make some phone calls. That's really useful. We are trying to find a second hand one if possible. I'll let you know how it goes!
