Can I use ABRSM exam pieces 2009-2010 for piano examination in coming 2011 Apr / May?

I think you can use the 2009-10 pieces for Session 1 exams (March/April), but sundry items like Scales, Aural etc have to come from new 2011-2 syllabus. Someone else might confirm this

yes, you can use the pieces until the end of the Spring session - which I think is 30th May, but please check the exact date!
All changes to supporting tests apply from now.

I think the answer depends on where you are. Candidates at exam centres in the UK can use last year's pieces for the coming session, which is 28 Feb to 2 April.
There are similar concessions I believe for those not in the UK, but I don't know the details.
Remember to check the syllabus for changes to other parts of the exam (as Miffy said) - for these you have to follow the 2011 requirements if you are in the UK.

Yes, I can only find the same dates as Maggiemay. It may have been because it was a special visit..will try and find where I got that from, but the 28th Feb-2nd April are the ones you should rely on.

Session A I think runs up to the end of May and you can use old pieces until then... We emailed the Special Visit office to find out (I can't unfortunately remember the exact date...) as we are planning to hold a Visit at the end of April/beginning of May and needed to check some pupils could still use the old syllabus pieces... As others have said it is only the pieces that can be used, the aural will be from the new syllabus.

International candidates can use the old syllabus until the end of 2011.

The end of Period A is 31st May, so you would need a Special Visit to take the exam after 2nd April.

Ah, I see, thank you. I was wondering how visits fitted in with the main examining timetable specs.

I'm playing my grade 7 pieces from 2009/10 sometime in March. I assumed scales etc were the same, I better check. ######.

Panic not, the scales changed in 2009 and have not changed since. A couple of changes have been made to the aural though so best to check that one
