Dear All,

For those of you who work with children's choirs or teach classroom singing, I'm doing some research for an assignment to see what kinds of things you do! If you have the time, please could you let me know:

1) What kinds of activities and exercises you usually cover in a warmup?
2) What resources (if any) you use to achieve this goal?
3) Could you also let me know they general ages of the children you do these with.

All help gratefully received.

Many thanks

We do lots of warm ups, usually starting with something quiet and simple - scales or scale type warm ups. Then we usually sing a round or two, in unison first, and use it to work on something that's going to come up later. If they're a bit giddy we'll do something physical. If they're a bit tired we do something silly. L try to let them have a bit of input in choosing what we sing but, without them realising, I steer them towards what I want to do!

I know a million warm ups so I don't use any other resources. I'm always picking up new ideas and songs at other choirs.

The children are aged seven to eleven.

Is that enough detail?
