I live in India and I will be giving my Grade 8 piano examination this year. From section A I chose Sarabande and Rondeaux by Bach. While Rondeaux is fast and lively, Sarabande is a bit slow but very beautiful. I feel that by an effective use of pedelling it sounds even better but my teacher tells me that one shouldn't use the pedal in Baroque pieces. But why? So what if it was composed at the time of the harpsicord we have the piano now and we should take advantage of that shouldn't we?

PS: Oh and by the way, I chose the Schubert piece in Sec. B and the Blumenfeld piece in SEC. C. I would be very glad if anyone who has played these pieces tells me what they think of these pieces.
