Hi to all that are taking AA317 this year.

Have you all had your tutor and tutorial dates through yet? I am still waiting for mine and someone on first class very kindly let me know the tutorial destinations that she had on her homepage.

I am really hoping that there are more than what her page held as there were no tutorials anywhere near me. Looks like the nearest is Cambridge and it will take me longer to get there than the actual tutorial, without taking into account the cost of fare.

My tutor and tutorial dates and location are on my homepage. i am very pleased as my tutorials are much nearer home and I can probably make most of them this time! I didn't go to any for A214! This time I am happy driving there- i know where the place is...... etc etc

Pardon my ignorance but what does AA317 mean?

It is an OU course Words and Music.

Nicki I am so pleased for you, I was lucky with A214 and didn't have to go too far. I really feel that I will need the tutorials for AA317 so really hope that there is something nearer to home for me.

TA212 so not directly relevant. I received an email from my tutor yesterday inviting me to the 1st tutorial in Oxford so about the same time travelling in each direction as the actual tutorial. The dates aren't up on the website yet but there was a suggestion that there may be a closer venue. As it is the date is more of a problem than the venue as it clashes with a rehearsal. Fingers crossed for some of the others.

Fingers crossed for you. There are usually more venues for level 2 courses than level 3, so you may be lucky. I was set to do TA212 but with AA317 in its last running I needed to get it in for my degree.

I've just seen the thread on First Class and am not impressed. mad.gif The most northerly tutorial venue in England is Birmingham. blink.gif I know that they often have to combine regions at Level 3, but to have nothing at all anywhere in Northern England is pretty poor. mellow.gif I'm sure that they could have combined the three northern/yorkshire regions into one tutorial group and run something in Leeds or Manchester or somewhere. wacko.gif

Yes and looking at what is on first class there is nothing for the south east either??? Maybe they just haven't allocated them yet. My friend who lives not too far away has now been allocated a tutor, but his tutorials have not come up on the record yet, I wait and watch, hopefully.

Just seen an update on first class, not all regions have allocated their tutors yet, therefore they wont come up on the other students homepages. We could be ok Flossie!

That's the north-south divide in action! In future years they'll be no tutorials north of Watford! ohmy.gif I hope they work out something a bit more 'oop north' for you.

Mine is in Cambridge which is about 1h20 driving but the same as A214. And I obviously feel dead clever going to a tutorial in Cambridge (even if it is in the 6th form college dry.gif )

Just got mine through, Brighton, shame I was hoping that I would get the same tutor as my friend. He hasn't heard where his are yet, just been told his tutor, so I will watch and wait as it may be easier to get to if he has Waterloo.

We had a tutorial last week. smile.gif

Back from day school and it was really good...I think I was sitting on the naughty table- the tutor didn't give us much attention! We got quite a lot of guidance about the TMA - so I am really glad I went! There were about 25 of us in the tutorial- the tutor has combined 2 tutor groups- which may be why we got a study day and not a tutorial...... Feel a bit daunted about the literature side of it!

Sounds brilliant Nicki, glad it all went well. I think a lot of tutors are combining the tutorial groups, so some are getting twice as many tutorials than they would normally get.

My tutor didn't touch on the TMA at all last week. In fact all we did was introductions and then listened to non course material seeing what we thought about the words and text.

A lot of tutors seem to have discussed the TMA.

My next tutorial is not until April, so we will have had 2 assignments due by then.

She wouldn't discuss the texts we have to do for this TMA, she talked about what we had to do and made us compare 2 other chapters of the reader to get the idea of what is needed.........

Oh yes, they are not allowed to actually discuss the assignment questions. But good that you got some guidance.
