Full Version: Easy Oboe/clarinet Duets

My daughter plays the oboe and her best friend plays the clarinet. They have decided that they want to get together during the holidays and play some duets together. My daughter cheerfully said that they would play the duets out of each other's books, not realising that the clarinet is in Bb.

I could of course transpose some of the oboe parts for the clarinet (and if I do which instrument would be better with the top part?) But I wondered if there were some "ready-made" oboe/clarinet duets out there. Both girls are probably around grades 2-3.

June Emmerson are usually quite useful for unusual instrument combinations. You might find something in their on-line catelogue that can be purchased elsewhere.

You might find some Flute and Clarinets that could work.

In Canada I found a collection called Music for Two (there's also Music for Three, Music for Four), for like instruments and mixed instruments. I think they have a specific oboe-clarinet combo but some of the pieces are probably a bit above Grade 3. Perhaps they could manage some of the duets. See here.
