Hey guys. You know when you play scales in 12ths up to grade 5, how is the slurring supposed to go? Because there are the repeated notes are the top... esp in the arpeggios which have them at the bottom as well... I didn't get marked down for doing them wrong in my exam or anything, but thought I really should check how it's supposed to be done.
In other news: I rang up my old flute teacher today... might get a proper lesson soon!!!

I always slurred and legato tongues the repeated notes, ie a very soft tongue action, and I think I got 16 for my grade 5 scales!

You should tongue the repeated notes in a slurred scale. Also you should tongue the note after the top note if you take a breath.

*nods* I think I tend to legato tongue the repeated notes, and yeah it says in the scale book to soft-tongue after taking a breath. I got 19/21 so I can't have been far out! especially cos I do actually know (and did at the time!) where I lost the marks. But I wanted to check. Been meaning to ask someone for so long!!!
