What do you guys think of this (grade 7) clarinet piece? Is it a middle of the road grade 7 piece technically, or is it a stinker to play?

What someone finds hard others find easy but...
I think this is relatively easy compared to the other G7 peices - It's a bit difficult to get it all sounding nice and smooth - I don't have the music to hand but there are a couple of sets of 4 semiquavers on the first line (that also appear further on in the music) that always sounded a bit 'rogue' when I played them.
And the bit on the 2nd page that is quite fast (was it sextuplets?) is a bit exposed but not too bad.

Especially the G to altissimo Eb legato bars! Beautiful piece, though

It's very pretty, and very approachable considering the grade 7 rating. The smoothness, yes, is what you do have to watch for, and it's very easy to make some of the high notes 'stand out' somewhat, if you're not careful...

I accompanied my 13 year old son doing this. Technically he found it quite easy, but it was his worst mark of the three peices in the end, I think its a beautiful piece and he wasn't quite mature enough to bring out the emotional side of it. I loved it, and he plays it much better now, 12 months or so later!

Brilliant, I love this piece and with lots of practice I didn't find it too difficult as it isn't too fast, I did this for my grade 7 exam in December and got 23/30. (I didn't play it in the exam as well as I have in practice).
I really enjoyed playing this piece and it's nice now the exam is over to play this just for fun, without the pressure.
