Hi, I have just received my G7 result (116) for this year. In general the performing part are doing fine. Just that I failed the Aural component! In the overall comment, he also mentioned "do work hard at aurals". Could someone shed light on how to brush up on my aural? Many thanks...

Hi Wilson,

I am sorry to hear that you didn't do well on your aural test. I think we get better the more we listen to music. It would also help if you could find a friend to play you some chord progressions (and whatever is tested in G7) on a regular basis so that you are familiar with them before you take the aural test. Are there particular section(s) that you feel particularly less confident in?

If you have a sound-card on your computer, you can download some really good programmes, like "earmaster", which gives you loads of excersises to do in your own time, in an easy low pressure no fuss kinda'fun way! That really helped me- or in some places you can buy tapes and CD's

Also try singing the intervals and arpeggios of chords to yourself

actually the 2 most troublesome section to me are part-singing, and cadences ... cannot imagine what it would be like when i do grade 8 aural, which requires me to listen to 3parts.... sad.gif

naja, thanks for the info. I just downloaded the trial version of earmaster. will try... cheers
