Hi,

Has anyone tried the Neopolitan Song from the Grade 4 exam pieces?
It seems like it is too fast for a Grade 4 student, being the first part crotchet=92 and second part crotchet=112.

Or anyone has a different say? Is it all right to slow down to crotchet=80 and crotchet=96?

I need your opinions!:)

i think it's alright if we don't follow exactly the same speed, slightly slower is ok. wink.gif what are the other two pieces you'll be playing? have u decided?

Oh, the other two pieces are Rondeau and Drunkard's Song. What do you think of them? Or which pieces did you choose?

I'm doing Rondeau and Bink's Waltz. The Vivace is really nice but a bit too challenging speed and position-wise. Seems like my teacher keeps trying to find the right position and fingering for me in the piece but it doesn't work out. sad.gif I don't really fancy the B pieces, but will have to pick one eventually. Sigh...

The Neapolitan song is alright I suppose. Still most of the pieces are faster this time for Grade 4, isn't it? I'm working on the piano and forte techniques, so am not able to keep up to the speed yet. Thank goodness it's somewhat easier to achieve on the violin then on the piano. biggrin.gif
Drunkard's song is erm.. full of grace notes, which I can't play gracefully. biggrin.gif

violin-ann my son is playing Rondeau, Binks Waltz and the alternative piece nocturne for his grade 4 in a few weeks. He didn't like any of the B list either.

Trouble is, I can't get the alternative piece unless I buy off the internet. and I don't know how long it'll take for it to reach me by mail. And how can I buy a piece when I don't even know if I'll like it. So which alternative piece is he choosing?
I might play John Lennon's yesterday instead for the C section. I have it and my teacher is looking at it.

laugh.gif LoL.. good idea sarah! Now the examiner can't fault me on the expression part, can he?

laugh.gif I'll be playing Rondeau too but my teacher seems to like A1 better. For the C list, I may choose Bink's or Yesterday.
