Well, good people of the forum...I thank you all for all your kind words.
However.....(why is there always an 'however'?

)
After a lengthy meeting with my solicitor, he says that yes, we have won a
major part of the case, but unfortunately there is still an outstanding issue that could mean that I lose overall. He says I'm to have faith and that now the court is on our side, things should be resolved in my favour. He just feels the need to make me aware of any 'worse case scenario' issues. So...if we end up in court after all (following various meetings to try and avoid this for everyone) it's not likely to be until the end of the year due to the courts' recess during August and September.
It would seem my euphoria was a little premature.
Sol...the person who assaulted me was 'sentenced' to a two year conditional discharge last February (2010). He still lives in my home town and I've seen him a number of times when I've been wandering around the shops. He tried to talk to me on one occasion. I spoke to the police officer that was in charge of my case and he said he couldn't do anything as no law had been broken.
