Will leave this to andante_in_c.

Every flautist on the forum should have flute advice from andante_in_c sometime yay.gif

Have heard great things about andante-in-c smile.gif

Will have to question the emboldened word though, that can't be referring to me unsure.gif , I can get a noise out of a flute but would not say I'm a flautist.

I'm of the school of thought that if you play, let's say, flute, then you're a flautist.

I'm a 'cellist. There you are, positive laugh.gif

Well Barry that is certainly a positive outlook smile.gif .

I didn't dare call myself a flautist until after getting my first certificate, but even though it was *only* Grade 4, I felt like " woot.gif hurrah.gif yay.gif I am a flautist - it's official!" rolleyes.gif .

Stalybridge is really close now, and I am looking forward to it! I have got a nice Friday evening planned too (will let you in on the secret on Saturday wink.gif )

My last post before the big day!

See you all there : looking forward to it once again! yay.gif

Just had a message from Sbhoa. Her internet has chosen this brilliantly opportune time to die sad.gif

However, her mobile phone is still working, and the number is on the concert website, so if you do need to contact her, please use that to call, text or e-mail her.

A.U.K
Just wanted to wish all concerned for tomorrows wonderful event the very best of luck ..I am sure you will all have a fantastic day of music making.. I particularly liked the Performance Commandments on the Website for Stalybridge..very true and very funny..

We (the ones who won't be going) demand pictures of the day and the performers..so we can get a flavour..

Several of you have asked about whether I'm having my 'stall' at this event - the answer is 'yes'!...and therefore slight change of plan in that we're now coming by car so hope to be there earlier than expected. Will bring flute too!
PianoNotes
Great stuff, David. Thanks, A.U..K. See you all tomorrow. Better do some more practising. The real performers have already logged off.
katyjay
OK, I think I've had all the station lift requests, please correct me if I've missed anyone.

9.43 Saxophile
9.46 Louise 1712 and Katica

so one lift can get all 3 - Gedall40 is there any chance you could do this as you have a big car?

Anyone else?

Hi katyjay... I hope you see this!!!! I've been off the Forum for a few days. I am already in Hyde and staying in the same place as Gedall40. I'll let him know at breakfast about this request!

Looking forward to tomorrow (today now!) but also quite nervous... I won't be playing on my own oboe as it has had to be left at Howarths. They have kindly lent me a replacement until next week but it's a different model and key system, so I am still learning how to play my piece on it with the right fingering! ohmy.gif

It will be great to see you all.

Thanks, Katyjay! smile.gif

I hope you all enjoy yourselves. I'll just keep the office ticking over. mad.gif

Sorry you couldn't make it, Pushpull. I think between us, Katica and I, put a good show for the forum's oboists. tongue.gif

Had a brilliant time, thank to you sbhoa and Katyjay for organising a fantastic event.

I really enjoyed all the performances - it was so nice to be able to put some faces to names, and also to hear other people perform. It was such a lovely informal and supportive atmosphere. smile.gif

Thank you to gedall40 for accompanying me so well, and for Katica for allowing me to accompany her.

Special thanks to Seer Green for stepping into accompany Katica and myself in an impromptu oboe duet (I think we all pulled that off pretty well biggrin.gif )

I am absolutely shattered now though, hope everyone that stayed enjoyed the meal and has a lovely evening. smile.gif

A big thank you to shboa and katyjay for organising this fantastic event, also have to mention the wonderful Val for all her work in the kitchen, as sbhoa said, she really is a star.

Well done everyone who played yesterday, the performances were great.

Thanks rachi for agreeing to accompany me, and for setting up and getting the clari trio organised smile.gif

Thank you andante-in-c for your fluting advice, and also to Gedall40 and katyjay for allowing me to play flute in a quartet with them smile.gif (Gedall40 - thanks for the lift to the station too smile.gif )

Finally, a big thank you for the lovely comments I received. smile.gif

Hope to see you all next year.

Thanks to Sbhoa for organising another great Stalybridge Adult Learners' Concert. I had a fantastic time, I thought everyone played astoundingly well and I enjoyed hearing so many different performances. Thanks to Saxophile for letting me join the "Pink Panther" quartet, hope we can perform together again sometime. Thanks too to Rachi for accompanying me and to everyone for their inspiring comments. Can't wait until next year. smile.gif smile.gif

Thanks, sbhoa, for organising an amazing day yesterday. Thanks Katyjay for offering to pick me up from the station. Thanks, Seer Green, for the sheet music and thanks, Gedall40 for transporting me back to the station.

I also thought everyone played very well and enjoyed our concert very much.

It will definitely be in my diary for next year even though it was a 7 hour round trip. After all there are 24 hours in a day and I was able to spend 8 hours having fun in Stalybridge, which still left 9 hours for sleep.

I'm back now, after a lovely weekend visit to Stalybridge.

Thanks to Sbhoa, who put on yet another excellent gig.

Congratulations to all the performers for making it such a lovely musical event.

Thanks to the audience for listening - we couldn't do it without you.

Thanks also to

Val, for excellent cuppas,

Seer_Green for excellent accompanying,

StuMac for excellent solo-ing (and excellent ignoring of my accompaniment oopsies...)

Gedall40 and Andante-in-C for excellent trio-ing, and Louise 1712 along with these two for excellent quartetting,

another thankyou to Andante-in-C for excellent lifts all weekend,

...and Katica for excellent breakfast conversation.

See you all next year biggrin.gif

Many, many thanks to sbhoa for another great Stalybridge event. biggrin.gif clap.gif It was nice to see many old friends and to meet some new ones. smile.gif I particularly enjoyed the breakfasts in the enchanted forest with katyjay, katica and Gedall40. smile.gif

I can only echo what's been said above - especially an enormous thank you to sbhoa for organising the event once again! I won't thank everyone individually, but a big thanks to those who bought music or cards - if anyone missed out or wants more info, PM me and I'll let you have my website address smile.gif

blush.gif You made it easy by playing so well, as did the others whom I accompanied (Saxophile and BC). When you think how little time we all actually get to rehearse together in our little duos and trios, and the circumstances this takes place in (like just outside the Ladies Toilet laugh.gif ) we can all be proud of the final results achieved.

Another person who has said what I want to say.

I also have to add that my Friday evening was also delightful - spent in the company of notmusimum and Emsoboe to start with, talking about all kinds of subjects, and then later after we had met Katica for the first time at Manchester Piccadilly. We did get to play a little music that evening.

Finally thank you to Katica for the excellent navigation round Manchester wink.gif .

No permission required - thank you for volunteering, and playing it so well (much better than I managed, especially those darned low Bbs!! rolleyes.gif ). Thanks also to barry-clari and other Barrie for their respective parts in the quartet. It was great fun!

My thanks especially to gedall40 for fantastic accompaniment. I (almost!) enjoyed playing my piece, which I think has to be a first for me in an almost-solo performance situation!! smile.gif

And thanks most of all to sbhoa and katyjay for all the organising which went into making the event happen in the first place. clap.gif clap.gif
katica
I just want to echo all the thank-yous above. Especially to sbhoa for impeccable organisation, Val for vital sustenance and support, gedall40 for accompaniment not only on the piano but in the car (when navigation skills sent out the window rolleyes.gif ), flobiano for being brilliant both on piano and as oboe partner in crime, Seer_Green for a marvellous job on the piano (also an excellent impromptu partner in crime) and everyone who entertained so well - on instruments, at breakfast and over beer! wink.gif

I must say that the comment envelope - with the right introduction from sbhoa - is an EXCELLENT idea. It really underlines the purpose of Adult Learner concerts and is very encouraging to anyone (probably everyone) who has performance nerves. smile.gif

sbhoa
I'm finally back online. smile.gif

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments about the day as well as for the amazing feedback comments.
Seer Green, thank you for accompanying me in playing your pieces. I hope that I did them justice, I really enjoyed playing them.

Provisional date for next year is Saturday 21st July and this will be confirmed around Easter as I have to check that nobody wants to get married or anything no that day... well, at that church anyway.
Enjoyed all the performances and it was great to meet with old and new friends.
It was so good that pushpull and Mrs pushpull could join us in the Station Buffet Bar so that katica could have her fill of oboe talk. Some of us were there til about chucking out time. smile.gif

It's taken me until today to recover from the weekend.
