Did anyone watch this on BBC2? I really enjoyed it, but why did they have to cut short the closing voluntary? It was such an exciting, joyous piece, and worst of all - I don't know what it was!
Does anybody know?

No, I missed this. Had a look on the beeb site, but they don't seem to give much detail about the programme content.
Apparently it was recorded at the same time as the Christmas carol service.
(edit) it's the finale from Vierne's first symphony. Great piece!

Thanks maggiemay - you're a star! I think I need to listen to some Vierne!
How odd to record it at Christmas - I suppose it avoids having the camera crew there twice though.

Does anyone know if this was also broadcast on BBC radio?
I have searched and can't find it but the television version is not available for viewing here. This is actually a most frustrating thing about the BBC - there are lots of things I would like to see but they are not available on the so-called worldwideweb. But if it was on one of the radio stations I might be able to listen.

You'll probably find they were both recorded in August!
