I know that there are a few adult cellists on the forum who might be interested in this event.
My friend, Sue, organises regular playdays for strings in Primrose Hill, near the Zoo, each month. The next one is on Saturday May 14th and is a special playday just for cellos.
The day is being led by Kwesi Edman who currently directs the Caesar Cello Ensemble in East London and is the head of Oxford Cello School's junior department. So you'll be in safe hands!
Many of the participants in these playdays have met up because they play in orchestras such as ELLSO, the Learning Orchestra and the Mary Ward Centre. Most are adult learners or returners aged from 20-80+! You will be made to feel most welcome. All levels are welcome, but you need to contact Sue in advance to let her know you are coming (so that she can make sure you have music available).
You need to bring a stand, spike holder and ?20 (and your cello!). A delicious lunch is included (and it really is delicious!)
It starts at noon and there is a play through for friends and family at 5.30. There are plenty of refreshment breaks during the afternoon, with time to sit out and enjoy the courtyard garden and get to know your fellow cellists.
