I don't play clarinet anymore but when I did I found that when I went onto high notes it would sound really squeaky. Does anyone have any tips to stop it because I might start again soon. wink.gif

Goood Idea!!

Shall I take the speed as: one quaver a minute??
saxlover
no. 1 semibreve a minute!
Saxophonist
best make it a breve a minute. just to be on the safe side!

To return to the subject before we're told off...

Loads of things might make the upper register notes squeak. Is your reed in good condition? Is it aligned properly? How's your embouchure? Are your fingers covering the holes properly? Are you sure it's you and not your clarinet?

There was a similar thread on Viva Clarinet a while ago - have a look there for some clues (especially jo.clarinet's post).

I hate to spoil the fun but you're all getting faster: one semibreve a minute = 8 quavers per minute which is faster than one quaver per minute rolleyes.gif. What you need is one hemidemisemiquaver per minute, that should do the trick tongue.gif.

I realised this a few posts back, but well, we were on a roll and got caught up in all the excitement. LOL

ah lol AnotherPianist!
