I’m looking for the easiest possible piano version of this piece for a young beginner. The annoying thing is that I know I’ve come across it quite recently in a book, but I just cannot find it now. Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks.
staccato
There is an easyish version in Famous and Fun by Carol Matz (book 3). One of mine who had just done grade 1 managed to play it quickly...

Although if it's for a near beginner it might be easiest to teach/learn by ear?
Czerny
One of the Up-Grade books (Pam Wedgwood, but I'm sure you know that) with arrangements rather than "original" (ho, ho) pieces by her. Or perhaps Making the Grade. Or the Really Easy Piano series.

You can search by piece in musicroom.com - that might jog your memory.
Misterioso
If you type it into the search bar, you will see a thread I started in March about this piece. There were some really useful replies and suggestions, and I am going to buy Piano Adventures Popular Repertoire book 3A for my Prep Test pupil who wants to play it. She's currently on a lower Piano Adventures book, so (without having seen it yet) I would guess it might be suitable for your pre-Grade 1.

I'm going to set it as a "reward" piece for her to learn over the summer AFTER the Prep Test. muahaha.gif
