and has a new, exciting bass voice. He sang

There is a Garden in her Face - Campion
An Sylvia - Schubert
The Policeman's Song - Sullivan

and The Mermaid for his traditional song - a jolly tune from the National Song Book.

He's an experienced musician who plays other instruments to a high level and we were careful that all his songs were well practised in performance settings - he did 3 festivals in the spring and got useful feedback. And on the day all seems to have gone very well because the online result says

142! party1.gif

(I have not asked him what he got wrong YET)

Congratulations violincjj's son on an amazing result. Clearly he has been well supported by you and I'll be taking a leave out of your book when it comes to preparing my son. I wonder if a certain adjudactor would like to see his result! wink.gif

To only miss 8 marks out of 150 is not a case of anything going wrong!

This is a fabulous result.

Congratulations to both of you.

Thanks, yes, the 'What did you get wrong' is a long-standing family joke!

(and funnier than the 13 year old 'joke' of writing the answers to a school Russian exam in German because you've decided you don't like Russian any more...)

Somewhat late in the day, here's a link of some performances, not the Grade 5 pieces except for a Policeman but still good stuff!

Nice voice! And also nice to see a teenage boy put feeling into his performance.

Congrats on the exam. smile.gif

I really enjoyed your son's performance. sing.gif His tuning is excellent and I think he's going to develop a very good tone as his voice matures - you can hear occasional really lovely notes already. Most impressive for his age. I hope he continues to enjoy singing for many years to come. smile.gif

Quite the assured performer - and what's this about not liking Russian any more? Citizen, it is your duty to be happy about studying Russian!
violincjj
smile.gif thanks for all the lovely comments!

And Russian is back on - this year it's the wonderful teacher who talks myths and legends with a passion. German is carrying on as well! Now for some Russian songs...
