I've tried posting this on the general forum but no-one replied sad.gif so I thought I'd see if this forum was a bit friendlier!

My little sister is trying to get into a Junior Department at a music college in London and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to which college would be best for her etc.?

She's nearly 15 and she plays the bassoon to grade 7 standard, and the piano to about grade 6.

She's really got her heart set on somewhere like the Royal College so if anyone has any stories about teachers they like (or don't like!) there then that would be really useful too!

Thanks,

Hi

You sister should try for as many as she can afford to audition. She should visit all the Open Days and at the one she most favors (good canteen) wink.gif ask for a consultation. The person who takes the consultation will be the woodwind specialist and often the Head of the Department (you can also ask for that person specifically). This method also costs but saves in the long run as they will tell you the truth about whether you should audition now or come back in a few years ....

Trinity has a reputation for being the most friendly Junior Conservatoire but others may argue this point!
