OH has just downloaded violin tuner on his iPad and has my iPhone tuner perched on the sofa and has just managed F major scale, twinkle twinkle and his own "rather nice" composition. I haven't had a look in and I am not pleased!

time for your oboe or piano practice in that case.

He sounds like he is enjoying his new musical journey. Remember how happy you were when you first discovered that music could be for you as well as your children? Let him have the same discovery.

Don't be discouraged if you feel that he is making faster progress on the violin than you are yourself. Remember that he is learning one instrument whereas you are learning three (all of which were started in an unusually short space of time). Your brain has a lot more to sift and process music-wise than it would if all your focus was on the one instrument.
