Is anyone learning this piece?
Im a bit confused, in bar 58, there is a double stopped A (above middle C)and D (above the C above middle C), with a 0, an o (presumably harmonic) and a 4 above it. This to me would mean play the A as the open string, and play the D as a harmonic half way up the D string, with the fourth finger. It then continues in 3rd position. My teacher has told me to do something very odd, with harmonics on the A string, but she wasnt very sure either!
If anyone can clarify this for me, I would be very grateful!

i would have done a 4 3 or a 1 2 in 3rd position. but the fingering was given. in that case, i will do a
"play the A as the open string, and play the D as a harmonic half way up the D string, with the fourth finger."
assuming the 4 and o are for the D note, and the 0 is for the A note.
What did your teacher ask you to do?

Its very hard to try and tell your teacher they are possibly doing it wrong! i did manage to suggest it to her what i said, and she agreed, so thats ok now. Thanks.

It appeared deceptively easier than the other C pieces. I sight-read a bit and decided to give up eventually. Working on the John Williams now, which is also quite a headache.
What other pieces are you doing?
I'm playing Mozart (and possibly Wieniawski - haven't decided on the B piece yet).

I cant remember the first one! not the Mozart thought, the one after it! and the Smetna (or somthing like that) It does look easier on the page, but when you play it... its not!

looks like grade 7 is the grade of deceptively easy pieces.
A3 is telemann! my teacher was trying to convince me into playing that piece, but being the mozart fanatic that i am, i insisted on mozart. (btw, it's his birthday today!)

Really? wow! Happy Birthday Mozart! (for yesterday) Yeah, that one, its ok really. I looked at the Mozart and thought it looked ok, but i decided it was too hard to play it well. So the Telemann it is!
