I have recently discovered 'Hindemith', and am pleasantly surprised by how fresh his music sounds to my jaded ears.

I noticed that the DipABRSM syllabus has one of his 'Interludiums and Fugues' from Ludus Tonalis listed. Can anyone share any experience of playing this work, or even, as part of a Diploma programme?

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Tickled Ivories
I played one of them for my Grade 8, many years ago. Not sure if it is the same one, I can check for you, but not sure how useful it would be because I don't remember much! The main thing I remember is the examiner coming over and standing behind me whilst I played it. She was probably not so familiar with it so she wanted to see what I was meant to be playing!

I also played this, sorry not for diploma but for my Grade 8 (bit of a long time ago circa 1983 I think!), although I only did the Praeludium for the exam itself I did learn the adjoining Fugue. I remember the last piece is like a mirror image of the first which I found rather fascinating. I remember I did enjoy learning it, it has a rather haunting quality to it that caught my imagination.

Do a search --- I remember a thread - or at least some posts - somewhere about this a few months back.
