Hello fellow mature students,

I wonder if anyone knows where I could find a classical singing teacher in the Stoke/Crewe area?

Perhaps you might be able to reccomend your teacher? I would like to find a teacher who can take me throught the ABRSM syllabus.

Any help will be gratefully received!

(I hope this is not considered an advert?!)

Kind regards,
Alicia Ocean
Have you tried the ISM teacher's register? http://www.ism.org/locator/

1. http://www.musicteachers.co.uk/
2. Contact your nearest music shop (the type that sells sheet music, instruments etc). They should definitely have a list of teachers in the area. I found my teacher via the music shop.

Good luck!

Also, see if your local LEA has ideas. It's possible some local choirs may also have singers in their ranks who'll make suitable teachers. smile.gif

There are two in the centre of Newcastle-under-Lyme (ST5, about 2 miles/20mins bus ride from Stoke Station) which are conveniently both on the same street: Bridge Street Music [instruments, mainly guitars and music - only been there once myself] and A Major Music Supplies [sheet music, theory books, strings/reeds and pretty pin badges - I go there a lot].

You could also try contacting someone at the Keele University Music Dept (Staffs Uni doesn't have one unfortunately) to see if they could recommend anyone. There is also the Amadeus Music Academy in Longton which offers singing lessons as well as piano, violin, clarinet and saxophone.

There is the Ceramic City Choir, also based in Newcastle.
