Hello again, everyone!
I've noticed lately that I just can't help singing along to everything I hear, be it the radio, an advert etc. Only problem is that people (especially my family) are annoyed and tell me to shut up! It's very frustrating as the tune is then stuck in my head and goes round and round for days...
Does anyone else experience this?? I just pick up music everywhere and then suddenly find myself bursting into song! It's quite embarrasing sometimes, actually...

I do that ALL the time... although I don't know how much comfort that'll be considering I also tend to talk to myself, and all my friends think I'm nuts... but at least you are not alone, eh?

there was a similar thread recently that Amber started in the general discussion section...
here... really, you are not alone...

I did that in WHSmiths just before christmas and some woman gave me a weird look - maybe because it was "Endless Love"...

I do that all the time, but so do most of my friends, and when there's several people singing at once it doesn't look quite so weird.
(except of course for the time we all linked arms in a shopping centre and started doing a can-can whilst singing "we're off to see the wizard" - we got kicked out, naturally)
but yes, i do that all the time.

Yes, yes, Natalie is the best music student in the school! She is certainly not rubbish at music, we wouldn't have let her do A Level or apply for music at uni if she was, but I don't know why I'm writing this because she never listens to me anyway...

It's good to that we all get to see Natalie's school report to check she's behaving, I wonder what the other teachers would say
.
Given that you've got a university place to do music you can't exactly be rubbish, I can just imagine the admissions tutors now "oh, she sounded rubbish we'll let her in!", it's just not going to happen
.
I may have to threaten you with torture by my mother's singing if you really want to know what rubbish at music means

I think we should conclude that people who tap and hum along to any music in range of their ears are extremly bright people!!
I sing tap hum 24 hours a day 7 days a week somthing catches my ear im like wow i want to sing that and just start humming away, not a care in the world and i always get told to shut up I think singers in general get told to shut up all the time

I've had a wonderful song called "Praise the Colo-Rectal Surgeon" going round in my head ever since I was sent it in an email a couple of days ago. It's brilliant.
Had me in stitches (which apparently don't need to be removed, as they'll dissolve of their own accord in a couple of week's time)!
If anyone wants me to email them with it just PM me with your email address and I'll gladly forward it.

Hmm, I always have the music from the Persil Advert going round in my head, you know:
"My Grandma and your Grandma
Sitting Round the Fire
Your Grandma told my Grandma
I'll set your ____ on fire"
missniffler
p.s. the ____ is 'flag' though it's often sung 'wig', 'house', 'place', leg'!!!
Anyone know what it really is - I'm sure it's 'flag'.

I'm afraid there's no hope for you...it's obviously a lifetime affliction. yesterday on the supermarket escalator, I noticed a familiar ruckus start up - when Viohazard is with me, he very often bursts into song, or worse, parodies the silly commercial jingles, and then his brother tries to shut him up, creating even more noise.
But then I realized I was alone...yet somebody was *definitely* tapping out a rhythm to the canned muzak. I looked around cautiously and spotted the perpetrator in the act. Yep, it was that old white-haired geezer behind me, doing a complex heel and toe rhythm with one foot, while tapping out the strong beats with his walking stick, and humming away happily!

That's really funny, all ears!
I've been told to shut up lots more again lately. I have the Honor Choir Festival Concert coming up in two weeks and have had to learn 9 songs, so obviously they stick in my head. It's so unfair; no one ever lets me sing as much as I'd like to *imagine a sulky smilie*!
