laugh.gif Oops it took me a while to spot what you were getting at !
Well I've got a taker for Farnham, who shall not be named !

F#m it is simply too tantalizing of you to issue such nice invitations when you know perfectly well I can't come. biggrin.gif
Have a good time with whoever can!!

agree.gif biggrin.gif
And do wave at Farnham when you get there - it used to be my home before I relocated to Italy!
(I could give you some suggestions for suitable hostelries but after 5.5 years away they've probably all changed!)

If you should every drop by Costa Rica on your travels, f#m, I'd be happy to treat you to a local beer... biggrin.gif

(Too bad this wasn't last month, when I might have been in the vicinity of Christchurch...)

Hope you all have a good time getting to know one another. Is the lady enticing you to her home so that you can play an accompaniment to her violin/flute/oboe or whatever? clarinet.gif piano.gif

It's alright f#minor my husband says its fine for you to come round... he is of course the perfect gentleman.

Well it was delight to meet Jod and 'A N Other' on my travels. Frensham Lodge is a lovely hotel but I thought the food was very poor ! The Claydon Manor near Ipswich was excellent. Tonight I'm in the Waterford Lodge at Christchurch, but I know its good because I've stayed here many times both on business and with family.
Not sure if I mentioned this before, but for the many hotel and restauarants I have had the previlige to use , I always post a review on http://www.qype.co.uk I have 130 reviews on this site as fsharpminor. Qype is not in the same league as tripadvisor in terms of volume , but its far more reliable.

Further to this, Im in Knaresborough Tues/Wed night this week if anyone fancies a drink, PM me.
maggiemay
You were not far from my neck of the woods on your previous trip - but unfortunately not quite near enough.
Maybe another time!

I may not make another business trip south of the Thames now before I retire !
I did work in N W Surrey some years ago,
Cyrilla
f#m, you'll just have to make a 'Memory Lane' trip to Selsdon again!!! Maggie is only about 3 miles from me...

He mentioned he lived in Selsdon whilst drinking coffee around mine. It was great to meet up with a forumite, particularly one who contributes to the Cafe and has a multitude of interests.

It ia a shame that I have just picked up thid thread. As I live in Brightlingsea (not far from Ipswich) I would have happily popped down to have a drink with a fellow Keighley man biggrin.gif. Glad you had a good time.

What a pity David, I had Monday evening all alone at the Claydon Country House Hotel, just out of Ipswich by A14, but I met Jod earlier in the day.

Yes Cyrilla, would have been good to pass by Selsdon again. It seems no time at all since I left Ambleside Gardens in 1988.
If Maggies is near, could have killed three birds with one stone if Bagpuss came also !! laugh.gif

Ive met Jojo (we had dinner together !) and Baz, but not the other three of you.
We lived at No 34 (towards top on the right), I think you said your Dad was in Swallowdale which adjoins it.

Aha! Better not let the "Bagrilla wins everything" grouchers read this - they'll be blaming the Croydon-Connection for block voting.
Of course, it has been widely known that it is the coolest sexiest part of the country for girls to come from ever since this musical treat first graced our screens.

At this rate the Forums virtual progressive supper starts in Selsden and ends in Burwell with Coffee, although there are pre-dinner drinks in Brightlingsea. Now if Cyrilla and Bag et all are providing the starter and I'm doing coffee and mints, whose providing the other courses?

(This can be a 7 course banquet it is a virtual meal after all!)

Of course, I stay in Leeds/Otley/Harrogate area for two nights, nearly every week, if anyone ever wants to say hello !
But next week I will be in Vienna, sadly without any time for concerts, though I hope to meet with an old University friend who is an excellent violinist (we formed a duo in those days). We have met twice since 1965 !

I can remember getting the train to Selsden when I was about 14, and bought some bits to build myself an oscilloscope, and a valve amplifier for my O Level Physics project. There used to be some good electronics shops there where you could find all sorts of fascinating equipment and components. biggrin.gif

Tottenham Court Road and Lyle Street in London also used to be good, but Henry's and most of the other good electronics shops have gone now.

Getting back on topic, if you ever come up north of Scotch Corner it would be good to arrange a meet up some time.

On that subject, will you make it to James Lancelot's recital tomorrow evening to celebrate 150 years of Harrison and Harrison? We shall be going along with Tosher.

Fixed up tomorrow evening now. Was this in York ?

Er..neither of us have ever won an award before, in however-many-years they've been running, and neither of us tout for votes...grrrrr....we could easily have been grouchy about others winning lots of awards in previous years, but it's only a bit of forum fun...isnt it???

fsharpminor
Yes just a bit of fun. I had one win in 5 years, managed two seconds this year !
maggiemay
...and some of us who are 'local' mostly don't vote!
Bagpuss
...and despite my cat basket's proximity to C & maggiemay I don't actually live in Croydon or Greater London...

Ah you must be in one of those villages south of Selsdon, and have a Surrey address !
I seem to remember we were Selsdon, South Croydon, Surrey CR2 8SF (Gee how did I remember the post code since 1988!)
