Full Version: Scales tempo for harp

Hi

My teacher and I are having a text discussion about the recommended tempo for scales for abrsm grades on the harp. I thought I had read somewhere that the recommendation was the same as those published in "These Music Exams" for guitar, but she maintains that I should be using the tempi for piano scales. No-where can I find a definitive answer. (and the piano speeds are way faster!)

Can anyone direct me to the harp scale minimum speeds in print/on the web please?

Thanks

For anyone that's interested the abrsm syllabus department rang me back today and told me that as they do not publish a required tempo for harp scales then there is no particular tempo that they are marked to. She said that fluidity is required and hesitancy will be marked down, with increasing fluidity expected as the grades increase.

I'm not sure whether that is helpful or not!

But at least there is no gospel metronome marking to be adhered to...merely helpful suggestions based on one's teachers experience I suppose!

Hope this helps!
