My A list Grade 6 flute piece is Pepusch's Largo and Allegro. My flute teacher has suggested that I do a wee cadenza beginning on the penultimate F in the Largo, but on the recording, it's just played as per the music, so I'm a bit worried that I might lose valuable marks by adding something that's not written. I know with baroque music one should ornament, but is this taking it too far? huh.gif

The exam regulations say that you should only play a cadenza if it is asked in the syllabus i.e. Mozart Andante from Concerto in D major for grade 7. I don't know what your teacher is planning and if it is more than ornamentation. If so, you should better not play it during the exam.

Thanks, schraeubchen. I think I had better point out this information to my teacher - can you point me to where I can find it, please?

Sorry for delayed reply Misterioso. You can find this information in the general Syllabus Requirements for woodwind
Ther it says:

Cadenzas should not be played unless specified in the syllabus.
