No joke. .. I head the digeridoo sightreading is extremely difficult. And sometimes the instruments you get at the exam centres are awful. My friend said they gave him this length of drainpipe - and he was doing grade 7. What a disgrace.

And not to mention the scales!

Cwahhh, too right. The contrary motion is a right pain - you end up not knowing which way to blow.

I think I'll stick to the woohoo for the time being - or tuned dustbins.
nicki_flute
Well, my digeridoo is golden plated and I take it everywhere with me in its own case, so I have never had that problem. However, when I did a concert with it, the people on the front row got blown out of the window!

contrary motion scales on a digeridoo? sounds painful.... eeek!

Nicki: you must be developing strong arms carrying it everywhere. Has it got a low B footjoint and a platinum riser, too?? blink.gif

My advice:

...digeridon't...

I tried tuned dustbins, but I was rubbish...

Yep, very painful, the examiners don't realise how uncomfortable they are to play.

Yep, my digeridoo is the master of all digeridoos. Platinum, a riser, the lot!

Oh, yes, my arms are like Popeye's!

Getting sent home with the prctice CD and the knowledge that a certain part will be tested the following week helps..... unsure.gif
nicki_flute
I have the CD and book, but the teacher doesn't know I do, and she has the same book, so I don't want to do the same exercises I'll do in lessons. I may do some Grade 6 and Grade 8 aural, and then when I do Grade 7 aural it'll be in between smile.gif

It helps when studying the didgeridoo if one has had a background in plumbing.

Better go, Top Gear's just finished.

Thanks for the warning, my dear. I booked a front seat to hear your performance of Ras Perry's Concerto for digeridoo, steel-band and coiffeur salon quartet. I'll bring a windshield ready for the scherzando bit. And shades so I'm not blinded by the gilded dazzle.

Oh yes, sorry, I should have warned you about the shades. Actually you get free ones on the door, the type that make things look 3D!

Sbhoa: I don't know which one mine uses, but it looks similar to the book and CD I have smile.gif

Wow, all you didgeridoo players must be really talented! Circular breathing is just mad!! It might just be an urban myth, but I have heard of people's heads exploding when they've circular breathed for too long and forgotten to get any fresh air ohmy.gif

If anyone's doing Tie Me Kangaroo Down for Grade 5 didgeridoo, please PM me as I learnt the wobble board accompaniment a few years ago so can accompany if necessary. Long live Rolf!

Returning to topic, I'm not doing any exams hahahahaha!
