Anyone know about courses and similar kinds of opps in UK for a upper-secondary school bassoonist, diploma level?

[about time we had some mention of bassoon here]

I've just joined the BDRS in the look out for some events but I have to say they don't look very high brow and the magazine seems antiquated. It may be worth emailing the tutors at the conservatoires for some advice.
