Not sure - certainly into next year! I'll try to make sure it clashes with nothing else. smile.gif

I would like to get to a Derbyshire event, but prefer a Saturday to a Sunday as I'm an organist.

For me the more advanced notice I can get the better. Nice to have an event actually on my doorstep as the travelling tires me these days.

So I do hope this gets off the ground

Talking of travel - Derbyshire is just about the most central County in England. Any by far the most beautiful.

The question is accessibility by public transport.

Derby is excellent, so is Chesterfield in that respect. Belper's not bad. A reasonable train line along the North Peaks makes the area around Edale and Hope pretty accessible too. Matlock is OK to get to from points south, Buxton and Glossop from points north. Otherwise, this is car territory, really.

I have a possible venue in Derby City Centre but it's expensive. On the plus it has 2 grand pianos, I have played both, so would be very good for piano duets.

Think I'll have to look at other possibles though!

How expensive is expensive? PM me if you don't want to say publically. smile.gif

I am interested if this goes ahead.
Seer_Green
I would be interested too as it's not far smile.gif

If it isn't adult only, I might be able to bring Matthew, and Derbyshire is not a difficult journey from here.

Plus Hubby likes the walking around the Peak Districk, and I like my car!

Any news? I'm bringing a friend with me I hope!!

I will be going to see a venue in the new year (january) in Mansfield (so not derbyshire but nottinghamshire) sorry for the lack of news, I've just been very busy lately! I have January to get this sorted though biggrin.gif

Mansfield is very hard to get to from London, I would probably skip this event were it to be there : but obviously I'm not a local : prioritise your local people way before me. smile.gif

But you could come to Manchester and get a lift to/from Mansfield with me smile.gif

Assuming I'm able to go, I'm happy to oblige with assistance (accomodation if necessary) for those travelling from further afield or for whom logistics are tricky. South Wales / Manchester trains stop here at my local station and Crewe isn't far.

Can't really do more until P*P has run around and sorted out the logistics (hard work I know - I'm running a residential viol weekend in March and finding a venue for this year took months).

In fairness, I don't think I would be able to make an event in Mansfield - a bit too far and hard to get to for me - sorry sad.gif
jod
I though Mansfield was on the Midlands main line leaving from St Pancras and on the way to Sheffield.

It is relatively easy to get to by road from ours as it is a case of up the A1 and turn off at Newark and fiddle through.

Nope : it's on the Nottingham-Worksop line, would involve several changes of train for me. Was hoping to do this event as a day trip (already have plenty of weekends away, like Cardiff, Stalybridge and Glasgow), and while Derby is day-trippable, Mansfield isn't. sad.gif

I stand corrected. Aha, it is travelling cross-country got to go through it.

Where you might have got confused is that there's a stop on the Midland Mainline now called Alfreton, but once called 'Alfreton and Mansfield Parkway'. It's still a 45 minute bus ride from there to Mansfield, and I'd still have to change at Nottingham. Not great...
fsharpminor
I am still interested in an event in this area. I had several happy years in Notts and Derby but haven't been back.

Mansfield would be fantastic for me! yay.gif (there's never anything in our area...)
Is there any mention of a date?

W biggrin.gif
saxgirl
I'd certainly pull out all the stops to attend if it was Mansfield as I'm literally a 15 minute drive away biggrin.gif

There are rarely any forum concerts etc in our area so it would be really exciting!

Have just logged on after a break of over a year and can't easily find out what is happening. I assume that there has been nothing in the East Midlands and I can safely log off again for another year!

Nothing so far, and this thread appears to be dormant. Good to see you posting again, eastmidspiano, anyway smile.gif
