My daughter took up clarinet aged 7 and has always wanted to play the bass clarinet. She's 12 now and has played a borrowed one in summer music courses a couple of times and loves it. I foolishly agreed, years ago, that I'd get her her own if and when she got her grade 5 clarinet. I never thought she'd get there, but now it looks like she's doing really well, she's doing grade 5 next term and is holding me to my promise.
I live on Guernsey so would like advice about getting hold of one, preferably second hand....they are so expensive! Has anyone got any ideas? It's such a specialist item, and we don't have a spare pile of money knocking about waiting to be spent on instruments....

Have a look at Clarinets Direct on the web. That's where I would go if I wanted one. smile.gif

I'd second that - though we were very lucky and discovered that an acquaintance had 2, rarely played either, and was happy to sell us one, which is how we came by ours..
