Can anyone tell me where I will find the serial number for my Yamaha tenor sax YTS 61? The only number I can find is on the back of the bell below the model number and seems too low to be a serial number, as it's only four digits.

Also, assuming I manage to locate the serial number, can anyone point me in the direction of a website to look it up? Thank you!

The sax could well have a four figure serial number. The bad news is that I'm really not sure if you will be able to deduce an age for your saxophone, as Yamaha saxophone serial numbers aren't sequential like most are...

In addition, I used to own a yamaha alto sax and in my "instrumentrecord" i registred the location of the serial number as "on the left side of the body, near the start of the curve to the bell" so maybe that is usefull to you.

Thank you both. I've searched everywhere and there is only one four figure number, which begins with a 2. My sax has the large thumb pearl under the octave key, so I'm guessing it's an early one but perhaps I'll never know!

Email Yamaha perhaps, with description and serial number?

I had a ferret on "sax on the web" an American sax forum. They seem to use the main Yamaha US distributor to get that info. I suspect that if you contact the UK/European Yamaha contact, they'll help you out, or point you in the right direction.
