Hello everyone (with apologies for the cross posting from the General Music Forum),

I'm in the throes of arranging my father's funeral and (it's a long story) need to get some hymn information urgently. I was hoping my local Christian Bookshop would stock a copy of Hymns old and New (Anglican) that I could sneak a look at, but they don't seem to have much music (shame).

Can anybody tell me what key the following hymns are in this particular hymn book? Abide with me, and Praise to the Lord the Almighty the King of Creation.

If anybody is in a position to scan and PM me the actual music for these I would be so grateful (only melody needed but harmony version will do the trick as well) but if not the key signatures would really help. I know how the tunes go but I just need sight of what exactly is in the HON hymn book.

I was supposed to get this information from the church but I forgot and they are not available today....

Many thanks in ancticipation, dolcebaby.

Abide with me Eventide in E flat major (as expected) 5 verses

Praise to the Lord the Almighty the King of Creation. Lobe den Herren is in F major (I'm used to it in G!) 4 verses

I dont have it on front of me but I dont think I have ever seen 'Abide with Me' in any hymnbook other than in E Flat. Similarly with 'Praise to the Lord, the Almighty' (Lobe den Herrn) is almost always in G. Never seen it in F

You are lucky never to have met HOaN then! It is a bizarre book.

Sorry, I don't have that particular book, but I've always played Abide with Me in D, and Praise to the Lord in F. I'm happy to send scans of the music if they will be useful for you.

Many thanks to Bourdon 16 who has sent me the scans, and to everyone else who replied.

Which were for private/study use only and I'm sure will be destroyed! blush.gif
