I guess there's still no news on a jazz syllabus for strings? I made a bit of a fuss about it around 10 years and they said 'definitely not within the next 10 years'. Well, those 10 years have now gone by - is there any chance of a jazz syllabus for strings and if not, why not? At least 10 of my students would jump at it if there was one!

Made me laugh as i have recently thought the same. No jazz for strings - what a shame. Has any one tried contacting the ABRSM? or who ever. sad.gif

Also any news for jazz grade 6-8?

When I did the introductory jazz course with the ABRSM the tutors told us that each of the new syllabuses takes around 5 years to develop. I think that they said the higher grades were in the pipeline, but I'm not sure about strings - I do remember that they felt the lack of a jazz exam for string bass should be addressed at least.

Why just for bass? Why not for violin as well? Loads of my pupils would LOVE to do jazz exams if they could!
