Hi,

I just wondered - can anyone recommend some flute music which comes with a CD accompaniment which is decent quality, and preferably chamber music? I really enjoy when I can download an accompaniment for pieces I am playing but thought it would be good to buy a book. I particularly enjoy playing chamber music, although hardly ever get to. I think I have seen the Mozart flute quartets before, where the CD backing is of the string parts, although any chamber music would be good. Does anyone own any which they could recommend?

Thanks.

Music Minus One usually comes up trumps for this. Check their website.

I had seen the music minus one series, but didn't know whether they were any good.

Thanks, Barry.

Some are excellent, some are less so, but haven't ever used them for flute (only for clarinet), so can't help further, I'm afraid.

Well,it might not be quite what you're looking for, but the MM 1 book Histoire du Tango and Other Latin Classics has the Piazzolla tangles with a lovely CD with guitar accompaniment.

(Oops, they are quite tangly!)

I know it's the wrong key 'n' all, but I can bring my clari copy to the playday if you like, Nicki? smile.gif

You don't necessarily need a special "playalong" CD - just a recording of the piece you want to play and you can play along with the flute part. Of course it does mean you have the recorded flute as a guide, and you'll want to practice without it as well and/or use a number of versions of the same piece, but I've done an awful lot of very useful practice like this.

I do usually do this, but I'd like some things without the flute part. Thanks though smile.gif

Hi Nicki,

I have a CD of the Mozart flute quartets. minus the flute part. Not certain which label; currently not at home and can check it out for you this afternoon. It may be music-minus-one.

It is great fun - finally got to playing it with a live accompaniment last year which was a lot of fun (albeit violin, viola and Double bass instead of cello!)

Will get back to you. happy.gif

I can't find anything through a quick Google search - am I being silly? Thanks for the info though. smile.gif

Edit - found some, but mostly CD only. I suppose I could splurge on some more music though: http://www.boosey.com/shop/powersearch/pow...amp;x=0&y=0

Hi Nicki,

you can get the music free on IMSLP (Petrucci music library)

smile.gif

schraeubchen
Peters has got some play along CDs too. In opposit to Dowani they are only one tempo (Dowani always has 3 tempi). Maybe you can find something you are looking for there.
Did I get it right, you are planning to play Mozart? I think to remember you don't like Mozart.
Misti
I've used the Dowani 3 Tempi stuff before, although I sometimes think the accompaniments can be a little souless. Still better than no accompaniment, though, and I guess you probably don't want an overly interpreted version of the accompaniment for a CD.

I think they are easier to come by in Germany than the UK... I first discovered them there, and I've only ever found their editions in one UK music shop.

Have you tried?

http://www.piano-accompaniments.com/acatal...repertoire.html

You do need to have the sheet music yourself, I have tried them for Clarinet accompaniments and found them okay.

Although it is only the piano and for the harder sections a slower accompaniment is included.

Yep! I have several accompaniments from there and have found them pretty good. smile.gif
