Can anyone give me any tips on learning to play the Trumpet. I am a late learner to the music scene and have always wanted to learn to play the trumpet. I am having a great deal of trouble forming the lips to make a correct "Embouchure" and when I try to make a note it comes out wrong, I am finding it a bit frustrating. I am doing a course at college and have spoken to my tutor about this problem and he just says keep trying. I really want to play the trumpet, but I don't seem to be making any improvement at all.
Please-Please-Please can anybody give me any advice. Thanks.............. snikwas

my son started last year... he was told to put a drinking straw in the mouthpiece and then blow through the straw and bring the mouthpiece to his lips and then pull the straw out the other end. He did this alot and soon got the hand of just blowing. He is grade 3 now after a year..... and he couldnt get any sound out of the trumpet when he had the trial not even a raspberry.
good luck i am sure you will get better
