Am keeping myself very busy working on my Dip (piano) pieces - feels weird getting into it after doing grade 8 quite a few months ago. Without a teacher, I find myself thinking a lot about the pieces as I'm practising, and making notes, imagining what my teacher would say:-)
Anyway, it occurred to me that the performance diploma syllabus hasn't changed all that much in the last few years, or have I missed something? Why is it that Trinity has so many pieces, presumably of diploma standard, and such regular updates while ABRSM has remained relatively unchanged for some time? In other words, Trinity seems very progressive and in touch with the needs of students and teachers, while ABRSM seems very traditional in its approach. Both have their merits I guess...
Not that it matters much to me: I still think it's a very good qualification, and I like the pieces I'm playing, it's just interesting. Any news about it being updated or restructured in the future (specifically in terms of available repertoire). This is just random musing - what are your thoughts? blink.gif

Have you tried recording yourself and listening to the recording at a separate time from when you practised. It is far easier to be objective with a bit of distance.
