I'm sure its an extremely well known piece, but could someone please tell me what the music is to a trailer on TV at the moment for Heroes of World War II? (I think thats what the series is called). Its on the channel called "Yesterday", they've been running a series of WWII programmes connected to the Holocaust and Nazi Sympathisers etc recently usually 9-10 pm. The music is haunting and beautiful and I'd love to know what it is and who its by!

I don't have that channel, so I can't answer your question directly, but there is a (free) web application "MusicBrainz" that lets you capture the music on your iPhone (or Android) equivalent, computes a digital signature from it, and from that looks up the title in a database, which it then sends back to you.

I think there are other Web services that do the same (like Apple's 'Lala') but MusicBrainz is the best known.

Thanks, that sounds rather technical ...! The programme is called "The Long March to Freedom" and will be on next Wednesday evening. If you see it advertised listen out for the music - its lovely - and could you let me know what it is?

This says it's composed for the series.

Sorry all, I got title of programme and day wrong!! The trailer has been on a few times this evening and the programme is "WW2 The last Heroes" and will be on Yesterday channel on Monday 10pm. Its lovely piano music, but what is it?

If it's the trailer I've seen in the last couple of days, I think the music is Gnossienne by Satie.

Yes it is indeed one of the Gnossiennes by Erik Satie, the eccentric French Composer, and whom many people say is the musicians answer to Edward Lear. His best known pieces are the Trois Gymnopdies, my Satie album has those but also some of the Gnossiennes, they have a somewhat eastern bent to them.
Theres also a wonderful Sonatine Bureuacratique, which is a hilarious take off of Clementis well know First Sonatina Op36 (But rather more difficult)
