From what I've seen of A Level in action is that most teachers prepare their own material. Partly because of the 'teach to the exam' mentality, but also because we all have our own ways of explaining this stuff, and teachers also need to adapt to the prior knowledge and general aptitude of the students they're working with.
On the other hand, if they're conducting a 'Cram for Grade 5 Theory' session, it's normally a matter of slogging through the ABRSM books...
