Do you need a teaching diploma in order to teach or can u just teach having done grade 8??

A teaching qualification is always useful but if you're thinking of taking on private pupils I'd have thought you could do it with Grade 8. It would be a different matter if you're planning to teach Music at a school in which case you'd normally need a degree and a PGCE.

If you're planning to teach privately, you do not need any qualifications. (Look at the teachers' thread on this topic for more info)
You can enter for exams just by registering with the AB, and anyone can do this.
You'd probably find the teaching diploma quite hard if you've not done any teaching before.
Best of luck, teaching is great fun! From a student and teacher

you do need a teaching dipolma to teach but if you work at the school as comin in to do lessons you need to take a police check like teachers as well. if your doing private stuff thne its better to get the cirtificate after G8.

I am hoping to do the teaching diploma sometime soon. The more formal qualifications you have the better. Failing that, your playing should be at least grade 8, even if you do not do that exam. Also, having a degree (even if not in music) can make a lot of difference.
