I'm trying to archive my messages and it's just coming up as gobbledygook in my email. There is no attachment - just a big pile of numbers. I've tried both web-mail and Thunderbird but neither works. I know it can work - I've archived stuff before, but only as a text file - and I can't remember how I did that. mad.gif

Any help gratefully received. BTW I don't have whatsitcalled - Explorer?

I reckon this might be a problem with the forum - contact a moderator or admin? I just tried it myself and got the same result - I know this used to work for me before, and I think I even know what the problem may be with the message, but I don't know why it happens or how to fix it.

I don't know how to do that. Oh my - I'm so technologically impaired!

Aha! Just found a list of moderators - any idea which on e to approach or would any do?

I've heard EdGJ's name mentioned a few times, even if he's not the right person he probably would know who to refer you to.

good luck!

The problem is that the default archive file type is an Excel thing which is completely useless as far as I can see. I've archived my PMs once or twice in this format by accident and sworn afterwards, particularly if I've instructed deletion of archived messages. If you click on the file type, you can select HTML, which gives a much more readable file, at least on my computer.

I tried both, and neither works at the moment- the attachment doesn't show as an attachment, just a bunch of garbled text.

I used to have that problem when the e-mail account associated with my Forum login was a BTYahoo account.

Now I'm using a hotmail account instead, the archiving thing is working, using the HTML option.
