...my house would accomodate half a dozen viola players, and I'm within easy walking distance of a train from Cannon Street/Charing Cross/London Bridge, and I'm just off the A 20 and there is a Harvester restaurant up the road and I could fit 6 in the car to get there (if someone little could go in the seat in the boot) and I've even got a piano and access to cake.

So we could meet here if anyone was interested.

It would need to be a Saturday afternoon. We could play stuff to each other, either just cos we love it or exam stuff or stuff we are stuck on and would like some input. And we could play some group stuff at whatever level was appropriate.

We've talked about it. Anybody fancy doing it?

That sounds like a very good idea. I've got my silly hat on and don't know why I am answering this post because I can't play the viola or any other stringed instrument.

If I still lived in London, I would jump at it but but these days it might be a bit too far to go for an afternoon! I shall, nevertheless, keep an eye on this...

I never played a viola, I only play the violin....but if you lend me a viola I'll have a go? ph34r.gif (never read the 'other clef' either sad.gif )

ps or maybe you know where I can 'rent' a viola for the day?

I'd love to come!!! sad.gif But it would involve two flights and two night in a hotel (or two overnights on the train) and I just can't manage that just now.

Perhaps later in the year tho... I could somehow turn it into a business trip... hmmm.... rolleyes.gif unsure.gif wink.gif

I would absolutely love to, but London is really too far away to make this a goer for me. sad.gif A real pity, as the the combination of violas and this sounded perfect:

Perfect venue, wrong stringed instrument sad.gif

Yes it might be tricky to balance a cello under your chin.

Right strings though. But wrong clef.

It'd be the spike that would concern me laugh.gif

Hope you manage to find a few viola players to join you smile.gif
Tenor Viol
I could really confuse you tongue.gif

Right clef smile.gif

SIX strings blink.gif

Tuned: G ( unsure.gif ) C ( smile.gif ) F ( wacko.gif ) A ( smile.gif ) D ( blink.gif ) G ( unsure.gif )

So, two out of six are in the right place!

Oh, and you bow it underhand, so the push bow (pousser or up bow) is the main bow not the tirer (pull or down bow).
