Never really liked pancakes, but thought I would be a bit creative to see if I can make them any tastier - anyone have any good fillings they want to share? I've got as far as various combinations of chocolate spread, melted chocolate orange, marshmallows, chilli powder, fruit...

We will be using Nutella as a filling in chocolate pancakes - normal pancake mixture but with a couple of teaspoons of cocoa powder thrown in. It looked like too good a recipe to miss.
Having said that, tomorrow is my late-work night, and tonight my husband has a company meeting, so in our household we are going to break with tradition and have Shrove Wednesday instead...

If you like coconut, this is what is often had for breakfast in Malaysia and Singapore. It's usually had with toast but is excellent with pancakes.

Chocolate ice cream - the chocolatier the better - and sambuca....
Failing that, my preference is good old fashioned lemon and sugar

Got to be chocolate sauce, although if I can manage more than one I may also have one with just sugar (I don't like lemon).

I doubt whether the local ones would sell them. My Sainsbury Local hardly sells anything and the things that they do sell are always more expensive than the main branch, so I prefer to do my shopping in the main store.

Probably won't make them this year - after all, it's only so's you can use up the last of the eggs and flour in the house before the Lenten fast. (Lemon and sugar always tastes to me like battery acid and grit...)
Instead I shall enter into the spirit of the thing by wolfing down the last of the cake, the biscuits, and anything else non-staple to avoid temptation for the next few weeks. (And try not to buy any more when doing the supermarket shop later this week).
Hoping a bit of Lenten discipline will help shift the post-Christmas weight.....
But if I WAS making pancakes, I'm partial to a tin of morello cherries flamed with a bit of brandy and topped with icing sugar and whipped cream.

Well..... local farm raises rare breed pigs and smokes and cures its own bacon. One of the options is a maple syrup cure. Another is black molasses - very good but it goes black as you cook it!
